Sketchbooks are important places to express what I’m absorbing.
They are sacred places to revisit moments of observation/ learning and to take ideas, imagery, symbols and develop them further. Often sketchbook work is most intense at poignant times of adventure and the work I make at these times is pivotal in helping me process moments in the present as well as in hindsight. Recently I have been circulating, compiling and cross-pairing imagery from rich sketchbooks which have been worked on for the last three years. A continued exploration in to the experiences I had in South- East Asia and the ones I am in the middle of in Scotland now, are all in motion within my paintings, adding to the desired sense of universal awareness which drives my soul towards exploring painting forever.
