A USEFUL SHAKE UP AND worded exchange which helped the TUMBLING OUT OF MY recent THINKING

uncomfortable about feeling like perhaps i have too much time left to complete what i have set myself

i need to grab it with smiles and fall in and all amongst it,  jumping sideways, whirling round and falling asleep on the floor with paint brushes and pigment  stained eyes

don’t be constrained by an old idea- which i am seeing through well- i will continue and complete it satisfactorily and also continue making onwards surges into painting now- unplanned, expressive, continuous

perhaps what i had planned for my degree show space needs to change- hang more, hang just the same, hang it all in a new way, in rows, upside down, some on the floor- undefined is how it needs to exist- still living until mid may when it shall sit and hopefully shine with life in one place-!

because the images are interesting and rich. i will continue thinking about whether to do this or not.

GREAT BIG EXPRESSIVE WORKS;

oscar mURILLO- parties over on top of the paintings, huge hanging canvases, spread onto the floor also.

helen frankenthaler- huge works. abstract expressionist, married to Robert Motherwell.

lee krasner- large pattenated, cubist amalgamations of intense colour. Married Jackson Pollock- there practices merged towards each other.

Graeme and I spent an hour in CO2 this morning, discussing THE BIG PAINTING. It is big, i set myself the task of making a huge painting work and I want to achieve that satisfactory end point now and to move onwards and make another big painting.

pattern, detail, leave add,space, place, active/ passive, light/ dark- be constantly aware- pose questions, consider answering them- through a balance of thought and the process of painting- thought concerned with unifying the entire painting now the initial base coat has covered all 15 boards- onwards forward

detail, tiger, bring that intensity into other places, add and just add to already existing elements- the castle, the sunlit figures.

T A L – R. CUTS OUTS, CASTLE, cut outs like flags, all colours vivid and on one level.

i am learning when to leave when to surge who to relate to when etc
