A further response to your wish to use a studio here over Christmas. I’m afraid we are not able to allow the use of the studio for accommodation as there are regulatory requirements for this which we do not have. You would however have 24h access to it so could work in it at any point.
Let us know if you’d like to book.

It would be great to use the community room to paint in, the size sounds good. Does it have windows/ nice light?
I will think about dates and get back to you when i have an idea of times. I like the thought of hiring the room either inbetween christmas and new year or just after new year.
I will be using the time and space to conduct research about the place, for my MFA course at Edinburgh. Do you think Antallasolais might be happy to accept a gift of a piece of sight specific work, as payment for the space? I am short of money but hope to be able to find a way to fulfill my ideas.
Also would it be possible for me to inhabit the space for 24hours each day? I want to have an intense experience, which inevitably will involve being outside in the landscape too, expereinceing the place and taking photographs but would like to return and have no time restraints when actually painting. Could i sleep in the space?
Thank you for your help so far.

It costs £100 per week, with some reduced rates for members – have a look at the details of the room and costs on our website: www.antallasolais.org (scroll down the homepage).Let me know if you’re interested. With best wishesJoanna—– Original Message —–Sent: Thursday, October 13, 2011 4:15 PMSubject: RE: painting in UllapoolDear Joanna,
Thank you very much. Very eciting to hear from you!
Dear GeorgiaThis sounds really interesting. We might have space here at ATS for literally one or two weeks at Christmas… I will ask around and see what’s possible, as we’d like to support you!Joanna—– Original Message —–Sent: Tuesday, October 11, 2011 4:02 PMSubject: FW: painting in UllapoolDear Joanna,I was given your email address by Effie- the manager of The Ceilidh Place. My name is Georgia Murray. I am an artist. I am currently living in Edinburgh and i am making work at Edinburgh College of Art as I have just begun the two year MFA course. From april 2010- July 2011 I was living in Taiwan. Existing, absorbing and painting in Asia was an amazing experienced which has charged me with imagery. Presently i am making work about the extreme differences and bizarr similarities that i have identified between the eastern and western worlds (Taiwan and the U.K.)
What I want to do is make some site inspired work in Scotland. I have always wanted to travel up to Ullapool but have not had the opportunity yet. I wonder if you might be able to help me in finding a location/ building/ space to paint in in December. I thought perhaps you might know of artists in Ullapool who will not be using their studio spaces over the Christmas holiday time. I plan to prepare a proposal and wish to reside in a space at Christmas time and make paintings to do with the feeling of being in the North of Scotland. Perhaps if i was able to use a space to paint I could make a painting specifically for that place, as way of a gift payment.
Do you have any information or ideas? Or know anyone else who I might contact in relation to my idea?
